PBS Teachers in Second Life

A collaborative space for educators working on the Holiday Hunt!

Pope Julius II tempted this Renaissance man to take on the artistic challenge of his lifetime. Although appalled, Michelangelo agreed and set out to hire assistants for what would become a 4 year project. He crafted over 300 figures in this incredible work. Come explore a replica of this incredible contribution to art history.

You will notice this build requires you to complete an agreement and respect the behavioral code of the location.

Once you have visited and taken your snapshots, head to www.pbs.org to find related resources for use in the classroom.

A search for the Sistine Chapel and Michaelangelo does not yield a lot of resources on the PBS site,,however, the following link will take you to a wonderful lesson, creatively and interactively executed. http://www.knowitall.org/sites/artopia/sculpture/artcritic/gallery/...
I am going to look and see if they have any other lessons set up in this same manner.

The Agony and the Ecstacy!

Truly magnificent. Sometimes words fail to convey what something really means....

Clue #7 for the PBS Teachers in SL Adventure

Finding resources was a bit tougher on this one so I had to think of other words to use. One that produced a useful link was the word "mural". I found this nice interactive that is easy enough for our younger students.

Note to Oregon Public Broadcasting - Please fix your links. Very frustrating even when I go directly to your site to find something only hit errors on the lesson plans.
