One of the first nationally produced PBS productions to try Second Life as a virtual home. Available on air, on demand from iTunes, and offering extensive Classroom Resources, this show offers in-depth explorations into current world events that affect us all. Hosted by Bill Moyers and David Brancaccio.

Please share the resources from PBS related to current world events you find most valuable to educators in your reply along with a picture of your avatar at this spot on Second Life. Don't forget to grab some freebies and watch the video clip on the big screen while you are there!

The NOW Classroom segment of the NOW website is wonderful. I found a lesson plan straightaway! As a Language Arts teacher, I had decided I wanted my students to write a persuasive piece and I found a great lesson to get me started. http://www.pbs.org/now/classroom/lessonplan-04.html Thanks PBS.

Penny! I'm so glad this was valuable to you! I was really impressed with their content as well. I will have to do some more digging and see how prominent they are in PBS Teachers as well.

This first resource is totally topical for our region. With home foreclosures at a record rate, students are more in tune with economic news than at any point during my teaching career. The above resource details the political side of federal economic policy.

This resource is excellent. It's a blog and a show that deals with the topic of students and teachers using technology in education. Unfortunately, many school districts miss the boat in using the technology that students bring to school with them on a everyday basis. David Warlick mentions this at length.

Bit of a tangent here, but an advisory body of students and teachers would be a great direction to go! This resource could play a key role in coming up with solutions to this issue.

I liked the podium at this spot too.

This activity from Animalia lends itself to media literacy in having the students read news articles and glean facts from them.
