Whether you are new or experienced, come have fun searching for these locations in Second Life! And, at the same time you will learn about the vast array of standards and research-based resources available for education use from PBS!
HOW TO PLAY the PBS Teachers Happy Holiday Hunt in Second Life:
Start by following PBS Teachers on Twitter (
http://twitter.com/PBSTeachers). On Tuesday, December 23, you will find the first twitter with a scavenger hunt question to take you to an incredible location somewhere on the Second Life Grid. Every day for the next two weeks, you will receive a question on Twitter for the hunt. You can jump in at any time during the contest period starting December 23, 2008 and running through January 15, 2009.
Find the SIM based on the clue, take your picture at that location then log in to PBS Teachers to find related classroom resources. Take all this information to the PBS Teachers Ning and upload your picture to your profile page and share the PBS resource links in the discussion forums for each scavenger hunt clue.
The Holiday Hunt is as easy as:
1. Following
http://twitter.com/PBSTeachers for Grid-wide clues
2. Joining PBS Teachers Connect in SecondLife Group in-world
3. Joining PBS Teachers online at
www.pbs.org/teachers
4. Uploading your SecondLife Grid snapshots and related PBS resources on PBS Teachers in Second Life Ning (
http://pbsteachersinsl.ning.com/)
You will find additional resources for getting started in SecondLife at the PBS Teachers in Second Life Ning, when you visit ISTE Island in Second Life, or when you are in-world search for Kimmer Jameson (a.k.a Kim Flack from Eight-ASSET in AZ) or Joie Despres (a.k.a. hunt and three lucky winners will walk away with $3,000L each!
So, save Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 5 pm slt for a PBS Teachers in Second Life celebration. Linden rewards and other virtual goodies will be shared with all.
